Your mother prayed to her god every morning for help with the charcoal fire. I know my God has all things in control and HE will provide all my needs, but HE calls me to pray!!! Oh God, forgive me and teach me YOUR ways.

I am very encouraged as well. We don't realize what we can do until we are doing it. Your mother sounds like the Proverbs 31 woman. Oh, that she may know her Savior and Creator.

Dishes get me too. I've been having the kids help me there. I want them to know how to do all these things. My husband has always been a great help, but now that he is working harder and looking at going to school, all the things I have grown accustomed to his help with, I am having to do by myself. Don't you know I am pitching a fit?! God is always faithful. HE is providing a quiet and gentle spirit (IPet3) and the ability (by HIS grace and mercy) to serve with joy (IPet2:18-21)Rachaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16018948679883108677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2628923047652487528.post-49071137001230060972008-06-12T21:49:00.000-04:002008-06-12T21:49:00.000-04:002008-06-12T21:49:00.000-04:00Hi,Rachael, glad to hear that you wake up every mo...Hi,

Rachael, glad to hear that you wake up every morning for your husband.

My mom waked up every morning at 2am with my dad when he was in business and then she would start her day, praying to her God then she would start the charcoal to get the fire up so she can boil water for the family, then she would cycled to the farmer market to get produce, we did not have refrigerator growing up. Then she would come back with her 2 big baskets of produces (1 in her front bicycle, the other at the back).

She would then started cooking for a family of 13. She washed laundry with her hand, dry the clothes on the cloth lines (no washing machine or dryer), clean the floor bending down (no mop), boiled enough water for the day (we do not have hot water in our faucet, we only have cold water running and it is not the kind of water you want to drink before boiling).

And she had to take care of her domestic animals, reared her own chickens and ducks at our back yard.

My mom is a model wife even though she is not a Christian woman. She not only take care of her husband, her kids but her parents, her mother in law (she sometimes stayed with us) and her younger brother (she stayed with us till he got married) and her youngest sister in law and brother in law (they stayed with us until they got married). I love my mom, I did not know how she did all the works that she had to do but she is one of the kind.

She lied her head to sleep after a long day work (no nap for her, she ironed our clothes in the afternoon, we do not have AC at our home, and it is a tropical island, every hot and the iron is charcoal iron) and she cleaned the living room and kitchen floor everyday.

I do not know how she did it but she worked very hard. She always tell us she did not want us to live the kind of life she had. She said because of the Japanese war, she lost her biological parents at war and was sent to live with her distant relatives and was denied of any formal education. She wanted so much for us (esp. the girls) to have good education so we can work in the office and hire maids to do all the houseworks that a house work has to do.

And all of us (3) did have very good education and she is pleased.

Now that she is getting old, my sister hired a 'live-in' maid for her. The maid now do every kind of house chore for her. And my brother hired a part time driver for her if she wanted to go shopping or go to the clinic to see the doctor after my dad pass away.

I did not do 1/2 of what my mother did when she was young :). But, I do prepare my husband breakfast and lunch the night before (in fact, I cook his breakfast, and lunch once a week, I froze them). I always try to be very creative for my son lunch box to school :) and I love to give him surprises or love notes at his lunch box. He loves it :).

Now that I am not in school, I cook 7x3 a week. It is a lot of works but my husband does not like to eat outside, he thinks it is very unhealthy.

I love cooking and I am ok with me but the things I don't particularly like is washing the dishes.

Whenever I feel a bit tire with the washing dishes, I just use my dish washer, though I really do not like to use it cos of the high electricity bill that we are getting nowsaday, sigh.

We do our family devotion in the evening. JJ now would not start his dinner without his dad say blessing to the food :). He would wait for his dad :).

Jamyjamyhttp://www.seaykopitiam.com/noreply@blogger.com
